Natural Areas, in the context of this website, covers protected areas and distinct landscapes, including recognizable landmarks. We divide natural areas geographically (by continent) and politically (by country and/or a lesser administrative division). Unlike “Habitats”, this section may contain images of a range of habitats found in certain protected or geographically defined areas. Predictably, there is an overlap with the former section, as all natural areas consist of different ecosystems and habitats.
